Review Process

Single-Blind Peer Review

English Journal Antartika (EJA) applies a single-blind peer review system to ensure the quality, originality, academic rigor, and relevance of submitted manuscripts. Under this review system, the identities of the reviewers are kept confidential from the authors, while the reviewers are informed of the authors' identities.

Each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its suitability for the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the submission guidelines, originality, and overall academic quality. Manuscripts that meet these preliminary requirements are forwarded to qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area.

Stages of the Review Process

  1. Initial Editorial Screening

The editor evaluates the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, completeness, originality, and basic academic standards. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be rejected at this stage.

  2. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers whose expertise matches the subject of the submission. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript independently and maintain the confidentiality of the review process.

  3. Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, theoretical foundation, research methodology, quality of analysis, interpretation of findings, clarity of presentation, relevance to the field, and contribution to existing knowledge.

  4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' reports and the editor's assessment, a decision may be made to accept the manuscript, request minor revisions, request major revisions, or reject the manuscript. The final decision rests with the editor.

  5. Revision and Re-evaluation

Authors who are asked to revise their manuscripts must address the reviewers' comments and submit a revised version within the deadline specified by the editor. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

  6. Final Decision and Publication

Manuscripts that satisfy the journal's academic and editorial standards may be accepted for publication. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, and publication preparation in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, provide constructive and evidence-based feedback, declare any potential conflicts of interest, and maintain the confidentiality of submitted materials. Review recommendations should be based on scholarly merit rather than the authors' personal characteristics, institutional affiliations, or other irrelevant considerations.

Confidentiality and Editorial Independence

The identities of reviewers are not disclosed to authors during or after the review process. Reviewers must not disclose manuscript contents or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage. Editorial decisions are made independently and are based on the quality, relevance, originality, and scholarly contribution of each manuscript.
